  • George Wallace & Roz G: Together at LAST

Ok so not "together" in the Biblical sense of the word but "Last Comic Standing" finalist Roz G DID recently open for George Wallace at his 10pm show in the Flamingo Ballroom, Las Vegas.

Roz G is quite possibly one of the funniest up& comers in the comedy world. She's also a friend of the one, the only, George Wallace.

For 2009, George had Mosiac opening for him in the beginning of the year. These boys are an acapella group that use no instrumentation other than the human voice to produce their music. At any one given time, they sound like a full band with drum kit or an entire brass section. They are simply amazing. They stopped opening for George back in about May or so and have gone on to other endeavors. (www.notaboyband.com)

So George has been fairly selective about his opening acts all along and has opted to not have any more on a routine basis until 2010, according to his publicist. "I have about 200 close, personal friends in the business and any one of them will take priority over someone I don't know. You gotta take care of your friends that have taken care of you," said Wallace in a recent interview regarding opening acts. So bad news for you if you were hoping to launch your comedy act opening for George Wallace but if you're a close friend, then hey, there's room for you and George hasn't forgotten you at all!

So Roz G showed up one night and said "Hey, I'd like to open for you tonight." Well, there she was, she was ready, he knows her and there you have it. Now I can't promise anyone that if you just show up and speak to the appropriate people that you'll get to open for George Wallace, but I can tell you that Roz G was absolutely hysterical and possibly the funniest lady I'd ever witnessed in quite some time. I'm sure she's an intimidator in the comedy circuit with people saying "I can't go on after HER!" (For Roz G booking information: http://delafont.com/comedians/roz-g.htm)

So if you missed it, you missed a fantastic show. That's the thing about George's show. You NEVER know who's gonna show up! (www.georgewallace.net)

  • Entertainers in Las Vegas

Specifically the George Wallace "I Be Thinkin" Show at the Flamingo Showroom nightly at 10 p.m. (dark Sunday & Monday)...

First, George Wallace has a show that you can take your grandma to and not be embarassed (too much) with a lot of dirty references, off color humor, swearing, etc. His show is open for anyone ages 5 and up.

I know that he's recently gotten a Facebook account and is on usually in the mornings to speak with his fans. That's pretty cool and there are others who have taken this guerilla approach to their fan base but many seem to have hired PR and Marketing firms to handle their blogs, Tweets and Facebook as well as other social media because all they do is plug their show, their merchandise, etc. George gets on, he tells jokes, he does Yo Momma Tuesdays where if you've got a Yo Momma joke, post it and rumor has it that if he's never heard it before he may send you a comp to his show, or at least a coupon.

Speaking of the show, this is a man who gives back to his fans. He gives away Ethyl M chocolates, t-shirts, CDs, DVDs, clocks, and at the end of his show, he doesn't slide off stage and slip over to his dressing room. No, instead he walks right up to the front of the Showroom, out the doors and greet and speaks to anyone and everyone who wants to speak with him. He'll autograph anything you'd like for him to and he'll let you take photos without any compunction. How many entertainers do THAT in this day and age?

So you get tons of belly-laughs, great seats (there isn't a bad one in the house), family-friendly comedy, you can get our picture taken and speak with him, and all for a great price!  Now THAT's thinkin'!

  • Hey Xanga, I'm Ba-ack...

So some of you have noticed that I haven't been on Xanga for a few months. It seemed that there was getting to be too much drama that I left in junior high that was trying to creep back into my life via this medium known solely as Xanga so I decided to part company for a bit and test waters elsewhere. That's going well but I feel its time to stick a toe back in the fluid that is Xanga and see if the sharks have gone and if its safe to swim again.

This of course begs the question of just what is it that I've been doing with my time if I'm not on here? Well, I got tired of trying to be "True" by Xanga's standards and have now developed my own called "ME" - that's what I am. I am ME. Regarless of what else happens, I am ME. In addition to this seemingly small development I have of course been building and strengthening relationships with various clients including but not limited to Mr. George Wallace.

There are tons of celebrities and personalities in Las Vegas. This is not a mystery certainly however I challenge each of you to find a nicer human being that Mr. George Wallace. He's a genuinely nice person who always considers the feelings of others first. He's the first one to open the door for a lady and the first one to make sure that if you're a guest of his, you are taken care of the way he himself would like to be cared for. He doesn't have negativity to spread, he doesn't play that. No "blue" comedy and minimal swearing make his show the best in town without a doubt. He's genuinely interested that you had a good time at his show and it's not a money thing with him. He loves what he does and wants to share the gift of laughter.

Think about it: The Flamingo already has your money. He's going to get paid per his contract. You get to laugh and he cares that he makes you laugh. How many of you out there love your job enough to go that extra mile for a friend, co-worker, or customer?

So I hope you welcome me back with open arms because I'mmm ba-a-a-ack!

It was a sad day for Manny but I'm sure that he's recovering and hopefully will be back shooting freethrows before you know it! Making touchdown after touchdown but until then, here are some love moments from his private "Public Displays of Affection (under the clever guise of professional sports) " Album...

  • What would you do if you were stuck on dial-up?

So the real question is "What would you do without your ability to access the internet?" because if I had to wait on dial-up I'd kill thousands of Chinese people named Abdul in a sacrifice to the Internet Gods.

So what would I do without my ability to access the internet? I'd be forced to get a REAL job and that would just suck! Instead I get to sit here in air conditioned comfort and design and write and create stuff... it's a sweet gig I gotta admit. I'd hate to give it up. I'd also hate to try to find thousands of Chinese people named Abdul... but it would be easier to find them than it would be to survive for a moment on dial up!

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

About Me

  • What about me? I'm not an average "blogger" I suppose. Then maybe I am. I blog because I do. Though I don't always have something thought-provoking to blog about, I have lots of tips on saving money and time. I also like to think that there are dainty sprinklings of humor in most of my posts. I blog about things that I find to be funny, silly, interesting, pathetic, or about George Wallace. I really believe that he is the man that Obama should name Secretary of Transportation - George understands us. He gets us. So I blog when I should be working... and no one seems to notice... which is probably a good thing!

Hey! Give me a shout out if you've seen George Wallace! Heck, give me a shout out if you know who he is (and no I don't mean the deceased Governor of Alabama who ran for President of the US in 1968!) - the comedian - the guy that Wayne Newton dubbed the New Mr. Las Vegas!
